The Queen’s lingerie supplier Rigby & Peller has said it was “deeply saddened” to have lost its royal warrant after more than half a century.
The luxury lingerie retailer has worked with Buckingham Palace since 1960 and has served various members of the royal family including the Queen, Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother.
Its director June Kenton released a tell-all book in March last year called Storm in a D Cup, detailing her working relationship with the Windsors.
It is not clear whether family’s decision to cancel the royal warrant is connected to the book’s release.
“The Royal Household Warrants Committee has decided to cancel the royal warrant granted to Rigby & Peller and Mrs June Kenton,” the retailer said in a statement.
“Rigby & Peller is deeply saddened by this decision and is not able to elaborate further on the cancellation out of respect for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Warrant Holders Association.
“However, the company will continue to provide an exemplary and discreet service to its clients.”
Kenton purchased the company in 1982 and still remains on its board despite selling a majority stake in 2011 for £8 million.
Rigby & Peller currently trades from nine stores across the UK, as well as online.
