Dolce & Gabbana reject multiple takeover attempts

Luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana has reportedly rejected numerous acquisition attempts, while creating a trust to ensure the future of the brand.

In an interview with Italian publication Corriere della Sera, the eponymous designer duo stated they had rejected “all offers to buy” the company.

“One can have a lot of money but if you are not free, what do you do with it?” Domenico Dolce said.

He did not elaborate on where these takeover attempts came from.

When asked about the future of the retailer and brand, the pair, who are both approaching their 60s, said they had split their fortune and created a trust which neither of them could touch.

The trust is intended to safeguard each of the pair should something happen to one of them.

When asked about will inherit their assets, Stefano Gabbana said: “Once we will be dead, we will be dead.”

Its UK arm posted profits of £1 million in its latest set of financial results, rising from a loss of over £2 million a year earlier, while turnover rose 28 per cent to £58.2 million.
