Retail Gazette Loves: Simply Be’s body acceptance campaign

Simply Be has launched an unretouched spring TV campaign that encourages women of all shapes and sizes to embrace body acceptance.

The advert first aired last weekend and aims to shift all women’s focus from their weight to their worth.

The advert features three different models from sizes 16 to 20 wearing lingerie from Simply Be’s latest collection, with a voiceover that says: “Our bodies are nobody’s business but ours.”

Simply Be“Our beauty is immeasurable.

“We have more to say than any dress size could.”

The models include a confident powerlifter, dance teacher and a new mother, who are shown to accept their bodies the way they are.

The empowering campaign will run for a full month and Simple Be said it will continue to keep unretouched photos and videos on TV, digital and print adverts in a bid to challenge the conventions of usual fashion advertising.

Simply Be“We’ve created a campaign that simply celebrates women for whatever it is that makes them, them,” said Ralph Tucker, the chief product officer at Simply Be parent company N Brown Group.

“Hopefully by showing our girls unretouched and embracing opportunities regardless of their size or shape, we’ll inspire other people to be their true selves.

“Our job at Simply Be is to make women look and feel amazing and Spring brings a fresh outlook for fashion so there’s no better time to embrace new trends.”

Simply BeThe campaign follows the recent protest by Simply Be outside London Fashion Week, where US actress and model Hayley Hasselhoff gathered models and diversity campaigners on-board a campaign bus to challenge the lack of size representation in the female fashion industry.
