Instagram launches in-app shopping

// Instagram now allows users to make purchases without leaving the app
// The initiative is currently only available in the US

Instagram has revealed that users can now make purchases via the app without being directed to another website.

The photo and video sharing app has aimed to make shopping an easier experience for users who are interested in retailers promoting their products online.

Customers can now view a product from a retailer’s post and click on “Checkout on Instagram” which will allow them to then select their size and colour and proceed to payment without leaving Instagram.

The first time a purchase is made, users would have to enter their name, email, billing information and shipping address, after which the information will be saved for convenience.

Instagram The app also provides a tracking service for users, which will send them notifications as to when the delivery is near.

Users can currently shop from the following retailers: Adidas, Burberry, Dior, H&M, Michael Kors, Balmain, Nike, Prada, Uniqlo and Zara.

Instagram has said that this new initiative is currently in closed beta for businesses and only available to people in the US.
