// Louis Vuitton to produce masks for frontline health workers
// Five of its workshops will be converted amid the Covid-19 crisis
Louis Vuitton has announced it will begin producing free masks for frontline health workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The luxury retailer is converting five of its French workshops to make the masks.
Louis Vuitton chairman Michael Burke praised workers who volunteered to make the non-surgical masks.

Burke said Louis Vuitton will produce thousands of masks in the workshops which usually produce the retailer’s beloved designer clothes and luxury leather goods.
Meanwhile, Dior, which is also owned by Louis Vuitton parent company LVMH, has been making masks since the end of March for hospital staff.
LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault last month also ordered his perfumeries that usually produce fragrances for Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy to switch production to hydroalcoholic gel hand sanitiser.
Moreover, LVMH said last month it was producing hand sanitisers to tackle the shortage of the anti-viral products.
