Toys R Us has announced it is seeking to assemble a UK-based team as it establishes a line of communication with prospective supplier partners.
The toy retailer, which closed all of its UK stores in 2018, agreed a long-term licence agreement last week which will see it return to the UK next year.
Toys R Us ANZ has the licence agreement to run “digital and physical retail commerce” for the brand in the UK after signing a deal with brand acquisition firm WHP Global.

Toys R Us ANZ has set up a dedicated expression of interest page, Toy World reported.
Toys R Us ANZ chief executive Louis Mittoni told Retail Gazette that the brands will return in “what we refer to as ‘digital-first’ ecommerce, followed by a unique physical experiential offering”.
“The announcement of the return has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from UK shoppers, suppliers, previous employees of Toys R Us UK and the toy and baby media,” he said.
The retailer is also keen to hear from former employees and people with strong toy retail experience and a passion for toys, as the process of building the UK team begins.
In addition to the supplier web page, Mittoni said he will be setting up a similar page for prospective staff in the course of the next week or so.
