Outdoor clothing, equipment and camping retailer Go Outdoors has today unveiled a new customer loyalty programme specifically for iPhone users.

With the help of mobile marketing firm Mobilize Systems, the retailer has devised a system whereby shoppers will be able to show their smartphone, rather than the traditional plastic loyalty card, to a sales assistant in store to secure a discount on purchases.

With immediate effect, Go Outdoors discount card holders with an iPhone will now be able to receive and redeem exclusive deals via their handset.

Lee Bagnall, Go Outdoors Chief Operating Officer, commented: “We are delighted with the work from Mobilize and excited for the opportunity this presents as part of our extensive Multichannel Strategy”

The retailer announced a £30 million finance deal last year which it is using to fund growth of the business, through both store expansion and investment in its online offering.

Not only will the new mobile system cut operating costs from the company‘s loyalty scheme but it will also enhance customer engagement and data capture possibilities.

Claes Kockum, Commercial Director of Mobilize Systems. “The ability to receive and redeem offers through the phone changes the way we shop and interact with our favourite stores.”

“Go Outdoors is the first nationwide retailer to realise the potential of fully ‘mobilized‘ loyalty and has been the perfect, enthusiastic partner to bring the first programme to the UK high street.”
