British retailer Cath Kidston has teamed up with Disney to produce a special Winnie The Pooh-themed products.

The collaboration saw the fashion brand receive unprecedented access to Disney‘s archives to source original character illustrations to integrate into the designs of Cath Kidston‘s own print portfolio.

The result is a one-off, limited edition seasonal collection of Cath Kidston products ranging from womenswear, bags, homeware and kidswear.

According to the retailer‘s Sue Chidler, it was Disney‘s European studios that initiated the collaboration which the Cath Kidston team was delighted about.

“They really admired our design credentials, and I think they recognised that we‘re really serious about the way we approach quality, the way we approach design, the way we approach the artistry,” she told Retail Gazette during the recent media launch of the range.

“So we felt it was a really good marriage between two very artist-led brands… We both felt very comfortable as we had the same ideas… and we felt it was a genuine collaboration.

“Winnie the Pooh is a British character with a British story and obviously a very British brand, so it was something that we wanted to be able to work with across all of our categories as well.”

While Winnie The Pooh and his friends are the stars of the one-off collection, Cath Kidston designers also integrated illustrations of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The special Disney range will be available in select Cath Kidston shops and online later in the year.
