Tesco is hiring an extra 15,000 floor staff over the Christmas period to help with the high demand in its stores.
The “Festive Colleagues” are set to start at the beginning early this month and will work across Tesco‘s UK shops in all departments.
This is part of Tesco‘s Feet on the Floor programme which runs between Halloween and Christmas, adding thousands of workers to its staff base over the year’s busiest period.
It is estimated Tesco Head office employees will work the equivalent of 10,000 days over the next six weeks.

Sixty-thousand people were reportedly interviewed for the Festive Colleague roles, with thousands more interviewed for office roles.
“Our colleagues are already doing a wonderful job getting ready for the festive season and with our additional Festive Colleagues joining them in store, we‘re ready to help our customers every step of the way this Christmas,” UK chief operating officer Tony Hoggett said.
