TV personality and retail expert Mary Portas has been hired by Sainsbury‘s to help transform its Tu fashion brand into a “destination brand for high street fashion”.

According to The Drum, Portas‘ – also known as the “Queen of Shops” – creative agency Portas was also appointed to help launch Sainsbury‘s new homeware brand.

The news follows a 10 per cent growth in Tu clothing sales over the third quarter of 2016.

“The work produced by Portas during the pitch process was very much in line with this strategy and it was great to see a refreshing new take on our fashion and home communications,” Sainsbury‘s marketing director Mark Given said.
