Amazon launches weather-based shopping service


Amazon has launched a new local-weather personalised shopping service that offers products to shoppers based on their local weather conditions.

Launched on Tuesday as part of Amazon’s #NowItsSummer campaign, the new service focuses on offering practical and fun products depending on weather conditions. For example, sun cream, sunglasses and bathing suits on a sunny day and umbrellas, anoraks and rain boots for a rainy day.

The service was developed by Amazon and uses new technology that studies weather data as part of an algorithm to suggest weather-appropriate items based on the consumer‘s location.

The online retailer hopes the service will provide a better understanding of when British consumers start making summer purchases.
