Lifestyle and fashion retailer Toast has introduced a book-sharing initiative in an attempt to lure more customers into its stores.

The initiative also aims to foster thought and dialogues between the community and follows Toast’s brand mission to make the customer experience one of enlightenment and worth.

“We find that our customers like to spend time in our stores. They tend to slow down and relax a little. The book sharing idea is an extension of our online book club which our followers are loving,” chief executive Suzie de Rohan Willner said.

“Our stores are not just transactional, they are places of connection, sharing and experience. Book sharing is a wonderful way for our customers to share and inspire one another.”

Earlier this year, Toast invited members of the public to share pieces of art under the “works of the heart” theme, which had a focus on communal, public art to draw in passers-by and to provoke conversation.
