Maplin rolls out iSmash concessions as it boosts support arm

Maplin has announced a new partnership with tech repair specialist iSmash as it ramps up its tech support offering to rival Dixons Carphone.

Concessions in three of Maplin’s stores across the UK will be trialled, offering customers an “express tech repair service” on smartphones, tablets and laptops under Maplin’s roof.

The technology retailer is boosting its support arm, rivalling its bigger contender Dixons Carphone’s Team Knowhow service which launched in July and offers customers repairs, upgrades, installations, and delivery.

Back in August Maplin announced a similar concession deal with video game retailer Game, as it continues to increase its expansion efforts.

“We are constantly looking to expand our services proposition, as we look to create a customer journey that supports those who shop with us all the way from pre-purchase and consideration to after sales support,” the retailer said.

“Following the nationwide launch of our Free Smart Home Survey, a new and unique service in the UK, this exciting new partnership with iSmash will provide first rate tech repairs for our customers in store.

“We feel there’s a great cultural fit between iSmash and Maplin, two genuine specialists in their respective fields, and I’m confident this partnership will be a positive one.”
