Aldi crowned best place to buy wine in UK

Aldi has been named “Supermarket of the Year” at the International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards, beating high end rivals like Waitrose and Marks & Spencer.

The discount grocer has been named the best place to buy wine in the UK, and has been celebrated for the quality of its increasingly extensive range.

Over the past year Aldi had launched a record number of new wines, with over 100 bottles receiving awards internationally.

“Being recognised by the International Wine Challenge, not just for the quality of our wine range, but also for our UK buying team’s hard work is a fantastic achievement,” UK buying managing director Julie Ashfield said.

“At Aldi, we like to keep things simple. We have a concise range of wines on offer, meaning that each bottle, which is bought specifically for the UK market, is excellent quality and is sold at the best possible price – truly earning its place on our shelves.”
