Google is understood to be planning to open its first permanent standalone retail store in the US to sell its growing range of products.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the technology giant is thought to have been working on lease arrangements for a multi-storey property close to its existing office in Chicago.
Although Google has declined to comment on the rumours, the publication reported that it is close to finalising a lease on a 14,000sq ft building with several connected two-story brick buildings.
Until now Google has only sold its products via third party retailers and online, with dedicated pop-ups in Best Buy in the US, and Currys PC World here in the UK.
The move would put the company in line with rivals Amazon and Microsoft, both of which are slowly moving into the physical retail arena.
It also has an expanding line of products, including the Google Home range, Google Pixel smartphone and tablet range and Nest smart home products.
