Intu will invest £10 million into its Merry Hill shopping centre to provide a more sustainable, accessible and appealing retail experience for its consumers.

The project will entail a main entrance transformation, as well as large format screen installations, redeveloped car parks, and free wifi.

Work is set to begin next month following planning approval.

“The start of a shopping experience at any Intu centre is all about bringing joy and creating a sense of occasion,” regional centre manager Dan Murphy said.

“With over 18 million people visiting Intu Merry Hill every year we wanted to do just that.

“The refurbishment of our main entrance is the next phase in our plans to develop the centre, allowing us to offer an even better experience for local customers and those based further afield.”

The shopping centre’s transformation is also predicted to attract more retailers after Next and Primark moved into bigger store spaces last year.

“Our focus is to attract even more great brands to our mall and this redevelopment is just one of the ways we can achieve that,” Murphy said.
