Poundland builds transformation team to “drive change”

Poundland has announced plans to reinvent its culture and store proposition which could “drive change”.

The discount retailer’s current finance director Mat Ankers will lead the business transformation team.

Meanwhile, Poundland’s former head of retail productivity, central operations Ian Keyworth will report to Ankers as head of operational change.

Keyworth said there were “exciting times ahead” for the retailer, as he moves into his new role.

Poundland’s retail director, Austin Cooke, has spoken of plans to reboot the company, with stores being reformed to resemble department stores, and products being sold at multiple price points.

The retailer has also aimed for a “cultural transformation” which includes its acknowledgement of staff achievements.

According to The Grocer, Poundland managing director Barry Williams bought three Mini Coopers for the company’s branch managers as a prize for their Christmas performance, and £100 to each of the store staff.
