Wren Kitchens has been crowned the best retail employer to work for in the UK, beating last year’s champion John Lewis Partnership.

Job search site Indeed analysed reviews from millions of staff members to compile the list of the UK’s top 15 retail employers.

Wren Kitchens takes the top spot for consistently scoring highly in terms of valuing its employees.

Meanwhile, John Lewis Partnership fell from the top spot to eighth place as its annual profits dropped by 45 per cent in 2018, prompting the department store to slash staff bonuses to just three per cent.

Lush retained its spot as runner-up, while mattress retailer Dreams came in at third place.

Retailers

“These are testing times for Britain’s high street retailers,” Indeed UK managing director Bill Richards said.

“Not only are they having to compete with their online rivals for customers, the tight labour market means they’re having to fight hard to find and retain good people.

“One way companies can appeal to job seekers is through a strong employer brand and compelling digital presence.

“In our most recent research 70 per cent of job seekers said that insight into a company’s employer reputation is important while considering a job opportunity.”

Wren Kitchens managing director Mark Pullan said the business was continuing to expand.

“The success of our business is entirely down to the strength of our team,” he said.
