Brighthouse appoints former Thomas Cook retail boss as CEO

// BrightHouse appoints Anth Mooney as CEO, effective July 1
// Former CEO Hamish Paton resigned at the beginning of the year
// Mooney was formerly Thomas Cook’s retail & financial services chief and Virgin Money’s financial services director

BrightHouse has appointed Anth Mooney as its new chief executive, who will begin his role on July 1.

The rent-to-own retailer has been looking for a new chief executive after Hamish Paton resigned from his role at the beginning of the year.

Mooney was formerly chief of retail and financial services at Thomas Cook, and prior to that he was director of financial services at Virgin Money.

“Anth Mooney is a financial services expert who has also managed national store networks – not a common set of skills,” BrightHouse chairman Stuart Deane said.

“I, and indeed the entire board, look forward to working with Anth in the months ahead as he builds a business that can delight our customers, inspire our colleagues and return BrightHouse to sustainable growth and profitability.”

Mooney said: “BrightHouse has undergone significant change over the last two years, but now as a fully FCA-regulated business, it has the chance to realise its clear mission, helping the millions of people that other financial services firms choose to ignore.”
