Marks & Spencer has revealed that clothing & home managing director Jill McDonald’s future remains uncertain as she could be about to leave the business.

There is speculation McDonald could resign from her role after less than two years in the role, Sky News reports.

The retailer has suffered from the UK high street’s challenging climate and recorded continued tough trading in recent months.

In the year to March 30, M&S’s profit before tax dropped 9.9 per cent, while group revenues also dropped by three per cent to £10.37 billion for the year.

UK clothing and home revenues fell by 3.6 per cent overall and 1.6 per cent on a like-for-like basis.

Meanwhile, online clothing and home revenue grew by 9.8 per cent.
