850 new jobs as Aldi’s Warwickshire HQ extension is green lit

// Aldi to create 850 new jobs after local council green lights Warwickshire head office extension
// Extension includes new carpark, an 87,000sq ft office expansion & 120,000sq ft new warehouse space

Aldi is set to create 850 new jobs in Warwickshire after a local council approved a planning application for the discount grocer’s head office and warehouse extension.

The extension will see Aldi expand its existing Atherstone headquarters with 87,000sq ft of new office space and more than 120,000sq ft of new warehouse space.

The premises will also see a new multi-storey carpark with 596 spaces.

The first phase of the development will lead to the creation of two new office blocks and the new warehouse space.

This is slated to create around 375 office jobs plus 50 jobs in the warehouse.

Another two office buildings are scheduled for the second phase of the development, and this is set to create a further 440 jobs.

The two phases of the development is expected to be complete within five years.

“The proposal provides a significant contribution to the region in terms of creating stable long-term jobs, which provide an income that is in excess of existing market rates,” Aldi said in a statement.

“This new phase of development will boost the economy, locally, regionally and nationally as the proposal is required to support the ongoing growth of the business which has been expanding year on year since arriving in the UK in 1990.”
