Card Factory has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Jennifer Lawrence as its new executive director of people.

Lawrence was formerly HR director at Costcutter and has over 18 years of experience shaping and implementing people strategies for leading retailers and large businesses.

During her time at Costcutter, Lawrence was responsible for developing and leading the HR agenda, whereby she initiated a colleague-led inclusion and wellbeing strategy to the company culture and launched an employee development programme.

Lawrence previously held senior positions at companies including Equifax, Boots and Boots Opticians, where she was a member of the operating committee and responsible for building the HR strategy for all 5500 employees.

She is a non-executive director and chair of the renumeration committee at Team17.

At Card Factory, Lawrence will be responsible for its people strategy, focusing on developing employee engagement, in addition to resource planning, development and recruitment.

    Cracking company to work for, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Karen while at head office, she’s a lovely lady, salt of the earth. Onwards and upwards for card factory

    I have been working for quarter of a century now and I am yet to come across any HR personnel who are useful for an organisation. Let’s hope she does something better.
    Ever since Karen Hubbard has taken the reigns at Card Factory the shareholders have lost 75%, can’t understand how she is able to hold her position.

    I hope they start and turn the business around !! As a substantial share holder I’m £000’s down at the moment … Hopefully the worst is behind them …
