Co-op will open two new food stores in Birmingham this month following a £2.3 million investment, which will help support 30 local jobs.
The convenience retailer has overhauled the infrastructure of its petrol filling station located in High Street, Harborne, and extended the food store on site by almost one-third to approaching 3000sq ft.
The Harborne store reopens on Friday, following a £1.5 million programme of works which commenced in early June.

This includes Amazon Lockers, hot food, a bakery, Costa coffee express and customer car parking alongside a focus on fresh, healthy produce, wines, ready meals, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and everyday essentials.
Meanwhile, Co-op is serving up a new store in University Locks, Birmingham, the following Friday, October 23, following a near £800,000 investment – creating 12 new jobs.
Groceries are also available from both stores on the Deliveroo App.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to make such a significant investment in Birmingham, both stores have a great look and feel, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer to serve the community, conveniently,” Co-op Area Manager Ben Bennett said.
“We are committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally, and to operating at the heart of local life.
That is why we also want customers to know that they can become a Member of their Co-op, and that they can make a difference to local causes every time they swipe their Membership card when buying own branded products.”
Co-op also provides a funding boost locally and saves shoppers money through its relaunched membership scheme.
In addition to personalised offers and exclusive in-store deals, members are rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products added to their Membership account balance.
