Aldi launches nationwide search for the best alfresco area

Aldi has launched Aldi-Fresco, a nationwide search for the UK’s best alfresco area.

New research from the retailer revealed that now that lockdown restrictions have eased, 32 million Brits have either revamped or plan to revamp their outdoor space this year.

The supermarket is now calling on anyone who has made a creative alfresco area to come forward and showcase them.

The lucky winning entry will then win a year’s supply of shopping vouchers from Aldi, worth over £1000.

Shelley and Ashley Sargeant, from Doncaster, were chosen by Aldi to judge the Aldi-Fresco entries after the couple received thousands of comments and likes on Facebook when they posted their garden transformation pictures, using timber from discarded pallets.

Shelley, who works as a school catering assistant, said: “Our back garden was lacking some lustre so we decided on a re-fresh.

“Fortunately we are quite resourceful, so managed to upscale our entire area using just pallets! Now it’s the perfect spot for outdoor get-togethers and BBQs with family and friends – they absolutely love it.

“The positive response to the revamp has been overwhelming. We were delighted that Aldi asked us to be part of their Aldi-Fresco competition and can’t wait to see the entries.

“We’ll be judging based on creativity, resourcefulness, and style. Best of luck to everyone.”
