N Brown hires finance veteran as new non-executive director

N Brown has appointed a new independent non-executive director as it seeks to bolster its team.

The owner of the JD Williams, Simply Be, Jacamo, Ambrose Wilson and Home Essentials retail brands has welcomed Dominic Platt with immediate effect.

Platt will also chair the group’s audit and risk committee.

He is currently the chief financial officer of BGL Group, and has previously spent five years at Darty where he was group finance director and managing director of international businesses.

Prior to that, he worked for 18 years with Cable and Wireless where he held a number of financial roles.

The addition of Platt means that N Brown’s board will now comprise the chair, group chief executive and chief financial officer and seven non-executive directors.

Last month, the group saw its revenue drop by 13 per cent to £729 million in the 52 weeks to February 27, after Covid-19 “challenges” affected the company.

Product revenue declined by 14.4 per cent to £468 million in the period, while financial services revenue decreased 10.4 per cent to £260 million.
