Aldi has launched a hiring spree for Ukrainian refugees to fill up its 8000 job vacancies.

The discounter has over 950 stores, which is where most of the roles are available, and 11 regional distribution centres.

Aldi said the vacancies are across roles such as assistant store manager, store assistant, stock assistant, selector, logistics assistant and a range of office-based administration roles.

The supermarket is currently in discussions with the government to find the best way to secure employment for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.

“We stand by the people of Ukraine and want to offer employment opportunities for those seeking refuge in the UK,” Aldi UK recruitment director, Kelly Stokes said.

“By working with the government, partners and other employers, we hope to help as many people as possible and provide much needed stability and security in their lives.”

The initiative comes after M&S, Asos and Lush joined a group of 45 companies that have told the government they have up to 10,000 jobs available for people fleeing the Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.
