Currys has increased its hourly pay for colleagues to a minimum of £10.

The 5.2% increase is the second time Currys has increased its pay in less than a year and it is expected to benefit around 10,000 employees.

The increase will come into effect at the start of August and employees in London will see a their hourly rate increase to £11.05.

Currys’ decision comes as the cost of living continues to rise, exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“We understand the mounting pressures from the increased cost of living and what this means for our colleagues,” Currys chief people officer, Paula Coughlan said.

“We want to make sure we’re doing our part to support them and that’s why we’re proud to offer higher hourly base-pay rates across our 10,000 colleagues.

“At Currys, our colleagues are our magic ingredient.”
