Amazon has introduced a new fleet of e-cargo bikes and on-foot delivery staff to replace van deliveries across London.

The online retailer has launched a “micromobility” hub in London’s Hackney to create more sustainable deliveries.

The ecargo bikes and walkers will make over a million deliveries per year, across around a tenth of London’s ultra-low emission zones.

The new fleet is created to replace van deliveries, reducing carbon emissions and congestion on London roads.

Amazon is planning on rolling out the initiative to more locations in the coming months.

“Amazon is driving towards a global net-zero carbon future. One way we’re doing that is through the transformation of our transportation networks,” Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said.

“Our new ecargo bikes, walkers and growing electric vehicle delivery fleet will help us make more zero emission customer deliveries than ever before across London and the UK in the coming months.”
