Foot Locker has opened a new store in Westfield Stratford, London, which uses a wealth of technology to enhance the customer experience.

The footwear retailer has opened a 10,000 sq m with “an elevated retail experience” designed to inspire youth culture and build communities.

The store has a ‘Striper bot’, which travels the flagship by appearing on screens across its two floors.

Visitors can also take part in interactive games, hosted on a high-fidelity curvy LED wall, for the chance to compete against players from across Europe and win one of the many prizes available.

There are also free phone charging stations, and customers can collect QR codes during their visit on their mobile device, for the chance to win prizes such as products designed by local artists.

A selfie experience in the store will allow customers to take a picture against a backdrop that replicates the London Underground and then use their mobile to choose backgrounds and stickers for their selfie before sharing with friends on social.

Foot Locker hosted an exclusive student event last week to celebrate the launch, featuring a live performance from South London rapper, Cristale, who performed tracks including Far Away.

Cristale is also the face of Foot Locker’s new Powered By You campaign, a platform which aims to empower, inspire and create a more progressive future for all, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, size or ability.

Foot Locker Geo UK & Ireland vice president Neil Carter said: “Our new Stratford store sets a precedent for us in the UK with its innovative technology for an improved customer experience, as well as helping us build a deeper connection with our local community, by providing them with a space that goes beyond the traditional retail space and makes visitors and locals active participants.

“All of this reinforces our values of inclusivity, empowerment, and sustainability, and our mission to keep building a more progressive future together with youth.”
