Waitrose to bring back free hot drinks for loyalty card members next month

// Waitrose to reintroduce free coffee offer for loyalty card members next month after a 2 year hiatus
// The grocer has teamed up with the Nero Roasting Company to supply the coffee beans as part of a wider partnership with Caffè Nero, which will see its products available in Waitrose stores

Waitrose is reintroducing its free coffee offer for loyalty cardholders that it scrapped two years ago.

The grocer halted the offer during the early months of the pandemic but, after a trial earlier this year, it is restoring the benefit at all 331 stores from November 7.

Waitrose posted a 5% drop in like-for-like sales to £3.6 billion in September, with Aldi and Lidl surging in popularity as shoppers look to save cash.

Shoppers will be able to claim a free Americano, latte, cappuccino or tea once a day when they make a purchase.

There will be no minimum spend needed to claim the deal, and non-myWaitrose members will also be able to purchase drinks – with tea from £2.25 and coffees from £2.35.

Waitrose said its loyalty cardholders would now also be getting better free coffee, upgrading to premium coffee beans as it teams up withNero Roasting Company, which will supply the coffee beans.

Waitrose commercial director Charlotte Di Cello said: “Our customers loved the myWaitrose free coffee offer, so we’re really excited to bring it back, with premium beans from The Nero Roasting Company.”

Both myWaitrose members and Caffè Nero App users will be able to receive benefits in branches of each chain.
