Sainsbury’s apologises for ‘inappropriate’ ad after backlash over women’s safety

// Sainsbury’s ad received significant online backlash for appearing to ignore women’s safety
// The advert described a £24 TU dress as being for “strolls after dark”

Sainsbury’s has apologised for a clothing advert it removed yesterday (16 January) after receiving huge backlash online for appearing to ignore women’s safety.

The ad was received very negatively online, with many pointing out that walking the streets in the dark can be extremely dangerous for women, with several people losing their lives in recent years.
