Dr Martens to open 100th EMEA store on Oxford Street

Dr Martens is set to open its 100th EMEA (Europe, Middle Easte and Africa) store on London’s Oxford Street next month.

The new shop at 184-190 Oxford Street will open its doors on 10 November and will have the second largest trading space on one floor, after its Camden flagship.

It will be the footwear retailer’s second location along the capital’s busiest shopping road, as it currently occupies a 1,100sq ft unit at 386 Oxford Street.

Dr Martens EMEA President Mike Stopforth said: “Oxford Street has long been a key shopping location for London.

“It feels fitting that our 100th store location should reflect our iconic brand so well.

“We have travelled a long way since launching in the 1960, 63 years ago, but our brand is authentic to its origins and while we have stores across Europe, it is symbolic that the 100th is in London alongside our flagship on Carnaby Street.”

Dr Martens surpassed £1bn sales earlier this year, however, its profits plummeted due to “operational mistakes” in the US market.

Pre-tax profits for the footwear retailer plunged 26% to £159.4m in the year to 31 March 2023, dragged down by a £3.9m impairment charge and a £10.7m currency exchange charge.
