Retailers across the capital are gearing up for King Charles’ Coronation bank holiday weekend, which is expected to bring a £50m boost to the area.

Those in London’s West End have decorated its windows to welcome the new King – from colourful theatrical tributes to modest and simple nods.

Retail Gazette rounds up some of the best windows in the capital.

Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum & Mason takes the crown with its colourful Coronation tribute inspired by royal ceremonies that have taken place over the centuries.

The department store has added a giant peacock to its fascia, with the vibrant bird perched on a balcony above and its bright feather’s cascading down.

It’s windows feature scenes of flower displays and animals from around the commonwealth, including flamingos, a leopard and a white stag wearing a gold crown.

Burberry

The British heritage brand has taken a regal approach in its nod to the Coronation.

The usual mannequin displays of its Regent Street flagship have been replaced by large purple flags donning the luxury brand’s logo.

Waterstones

The bookseller has transformed the art deco windows of it’s Piccadilly flagship to mimic the Royal parks in front of The Mall and Buckingham Palace.

A collection of Paddington and Princess-themed children’s books are propped up against a mock marble bench next to a cardboard cutout of a corgi on one side of the window, while a group of biographies on members of the royal family sit opposite.
