Harvey Nichols has resumed online trading under new owner Frasers Group, following a temporary shutdown of its website in August, after the luxury department store was acquired out of administration.
The retailer’s website is now live again, with the footer identifying Frasers Group Trading Limited as the operator of the Harvey Nichols business.
The site is also promoting Frasers’ loyalty and payments proposition, Frasers Plus, alongside a refreshed selection of luxury brands and new-season products.
The return to trading follows a period in which Harvey Nichols’ website was taken offline while Frasers completed the transition. A holding page told customers the retailer was “currently unavailable online” while it underwent a period of transition, although its physical stores remained open.
Frasers Group completed its acquisition of Harvey Nichols on 13 August. The deal included the retailer’s UK stores, online business, existing inventory and international franchise agreements, with more than 1,000 employees transferring to the new ownership.
The acquisition marked a change of direction for the luxury retailer, which had been loss-making for several years. Frasers chief executive Michael Murray warned at the time that the turnaround would require “tough choices”, including potentially rationalising Harvey Nichols’ store portfolio, organisational structure and cost base.
The online relaunch provides the clearest indication yet of how Harvey Nichols will operate within Frasers’ wider retail ecosystem. The site retains the Harvey Nichols branding and luxury positioning, while incorporating elements of Frasers’ wider infrastructure.
The move also comes as Frasers continues to expand its presence in premium and luxury retail, following investments and acquisitions across the sector.
For Harvey Nichols, the return online represents an important step in rebuilding its digital proposition following the administration process and beginning a new chapter under Frasers ownership.
