Former John Lewis COO Andrew Murphy was among the business leaders recognised in the New Year Honours list.
Murphy, who recently took up the role as CEO of toy retailer The Entertainer after 30 years at the partnership, was awarded an OBE for his services to the British retail industry.
The retail boss, a judge of this year’s Retail Gazette Awards, joined John Lewis straight out of university, working his way up from the shop floor of the department store’s Aberdeen branch to eventually become COO of the group.
