Aldi slashes price of over 40 popular products

Aldi is lowering the prices on more than 40 of its most popular grocery products as it looks to support shoppers feeling “squeezed” post-Christmas.

From tomorrow (17 January) the discounter is reducing the prices of commonly-bought products – including coffee, tinned soup and pet food – by up to 17%.

Products in the campaign include Fishmonger Tuna Chunks in Springwater, Bramwells Premium Baked Beans, Spaghetti Loops and Tomato Soup.

Aldi managing director Julie Ashfield said: “We’re starting 2024 as we ended 2023 – by being the UK’s lowest-priced supermarket, ensuring our customers can enjoy our great-quality products at the lowest possible prices.

“At a time when budgets are squeezed post-Christmas, this latest round of price cuts will help our shoppers make significant savings on their weekly food shop, with amazing prices to be had on a wide range of items.”

Last week, Aldi was named the UK’s cheapest supermarket of the year by consumer group Which? for the third year in a row, after winning its monthly award 11 times in 2023.

In a bid to keep up with the grocer’s success, Asda became the first supermarket to price match both Aldi and Lidl across hundreds of everyday products.
