Dunelm bolsters board with ex-Amazon exec and Paddy Power boss

Dunelm has beefed up its boardroom’s digital expertise, bringing in ex-Amazon director Ajay Kavan and Daniel Taylor, the CEO of Paddy Power owner Flutter.

Kavan, who was a vice president at Amazon from 2011 to 2020, is currently a senior advisor to the global investment firm KKR and a member of the advisory panel to Piper Private Equity.

He is also on the board of European online grocer Rohlik Group and vice chair at the Prince of Wales’ charity, In Kind Direct.

Taylor’s experience lies in digital, consumer-facing brands, and he has been the chief executive of Flutter International since 2020.

He previously held management and strategy roles at Teletext Holidays and DMG Media.

Dunelm chair Alison Brittain said the appointments helped to make sure the homewares giant had an “effective board composition and complementary skill sets”.

“Ajay’s experience across a range of well-known retailers strengthens our board as we continue to drive multichannel growth across our total retail system.”

“Dan’s experience, particularly in the delivery of digital growth strategies in consumer-facing businesses, will add further expertise and value as we continue to evolve and improve our customer proposition,” she added.

The pair will take their seats on the board from 1 March.
