Ocado sex toys and ready meals sales climb ahead of Valentine’s Day

Ocado has reported that sales of its sex toys and ready meals have more than doubled in the run up to Valentine’s Day.

The online supermarket said sales of dildos had skyrocketed 190% on last year, with 73% of shopping baskets pairing the sex toy with ready meals.

Massage oils and vibrators have also proven popular among shoppers, with sales up 45% and 17.7% respectively.

Ocado buying manager of health and beauty Emily Dixon said: “At Ocado, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse selection of products which celebrate self-pleasure.

“Our customers are becoming bolder with their shopping, and are not ashamed to purchase intimate items alongside their usual groceries for the week.

“We have something for everyone in our selection, so whether you’re solo or spending Valentine’s with a partner, we want our customers to order items they enjoy for Valentine’s.”

Last week, Ann Summers revealed it had partnered with Deliveroo to offer a selected range of sexual wellness products on-demand in the run up to Valentine’s Day.
