Puma has appointed Adidas chief information officer (CIO) Andreas Hubert as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Under his new role, effective 1 September, the exec will oversee the brand’s global sourcing operations, such as sustainability and product development, IT and logistics.
Hubert initially joined Adidas in 2005, serving under several leadership positions such as SVP of global sourcing while based in Hong Kong.
He stepped down from the sportswear giant in June, after leading its technology strategy, systems, applications and IT services for over four years.
The appointment represents a reshuffling of Puma’s executive responsibilities, where the chief product officer was responsible for sourcing, the CFO was in charge of IT, and the CEO was responsible for logistics.
The decision to shift sourcing, IT and logistics under the COO’s resort is intended to “streamline responsibilities across the leadership team and organisation”.
Puma CEO Arthur Hoeld said: “With his extensive background in IT, sourcing, and supply chain management, he brings the perfect combination of strategic insight and operational excellence.
“[Hubert’s] deep industry experience and expertise will be instrumental in optimizing Puma’s global operations, driving digital transformation, and strengthening the resilience of our supply chain as we enter our next phase of growth.”
Back in May, Puma revealed it would relocate its UK head office from London to the new Circle Square development in Manchester.
The sportswear giant said its new base in Manchester was “already home to a growing community of retail tech and digital-first businesses, making it a future-facing base for Puma’s UK operations and a strategic step in its ongoing transformation”.
