Harrods has promoted its retail director Mark Blundell as its new chief retail officer.

The exec joined the luxury department store in 2018 as its head of retail projects and retail services, before being promoted to become its retail director in 2022.

Prior to working for Harrods, Blundell served under various leadership positions across John Lewis Partnership and Waitrose.

As chief retail officer for Harrods, he will be responsible for the “service and standards” across all of the retailer’s physical retail channels.

Harrods managing director Michael Ward said: “I am pleased to promote Mark to join the Harrods management executive committee.

“Mark is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in managing teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences and strong commercial results.

“His strategic leadership will support the ongoing development of our high performance culture and continuing evolution of Harrods as the leading luxury authority.”

Earlier this month, Harrods marketing head Gerard Duran moved to Christian Dior Couture as its client marketing director for Europe, after almost four years.

In June, Harrods also poached Tui finance boss Geoff Weaver as its new chief financial officer.
