Adidas shares were set to rise 3.3 per cent on Wednesday morning, after it upgraded its full-year profit forecast following a record third quarter.

It now expects operating profit to reach around €2.5bn in 2026, up from its previous forecast of €2.3bn, following stronger-than-expected trading.

Adidas reported a 37 per cent jump in third-quarter operating profit to a record €1.01bn, while revenues climbed nine per cent to an all-time quarterly high of €7.25bn.

Currency-neutral sales increased seven per cent during the period, while gross margin improved 2.5 percentage points to 54.3 per cent, supported by healthy full-price sales and a €200m refund relating to US tariffs.

Adidas said it expects the stronger profitability to generate an additional €100m in operating profit, alongside the tariff refund, although it plans to reinvest around €100m in the fourth quarter to support future growth.

The upgraded outlook sent Adidas shares 3.3 per cent higher in premarket indications on Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Adidas chief executive Bjørn Gulden hailed the record performance, highlighting continued momentum across its football, running and training categories.

He said: “Our brand, our product and our people are our strength.”

Gulden added that demand for its apparel collections was helping fuel its lifestyle business, although the footwear market remained challenging due to excess inventory and widespread discounting.

Adidas continues to expect currency-neutral revenue growth of between nine per cent and 10 per cent for the full year.

Adidas is set to publish its full third-quarter results on 29 October.
