Paul Smith has opened a new flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York, bringing a residential-inspired retail concept to the Upper East Side, as the British fashion brand looks to ramp up its North American growth.
The two-storey shop takes inspiration from designer Sir Paul Smith’s home in London’s Holland Park, combining tailoring and ready-to-wear collections with vintage furniture, artwork and bespoke design features.

The opening marks Paul Smith’s arrival on the Upper East Side, almost 40 years after the company opened its first New York store on Fifth Avenue.
The store houses men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, alongside a dedicated upstairs space for tailoring, occasionwear and Made to Measure services. Interiors include reclaimed wood panelling, antique furniture, signature stripe upholstery and artworks collected by Smith over several decades.

Distinctive details include a mosaic by French artist Alexandra Carron featuring a needle and thread motif, banana-shaped door handles and a speaking tube connecting the upstairs tailoring area to the first-floor cash desk.
Danny Power, president of Paul Smith North America, said the opening marked “an incredibly exciting next step” for the business in the region.
“Paul Smith has proudly been part of the fabric of New York for nearly forty years, a much-loved brand by those in the know,” said Power.
“The opening signals a moment of real focus and energy as we sharpen what we stand for. The shop is a commitment to our ambitious plans for growth in North America.”
