Spreadshirt has appointed Hugo Smoter to the newly-created position of Chief Commercial Officer, taking on the overall responsibility for its commercial sector as the US-based online retailer sets its sights on further growth in the UK and the rest of Europe.

In this new role, Smoter will be responsible for the commercial strategy and for developing the commercial teams to achieve the overall corporate goals.

This will involve building on Spreadshirt‘s three core areas: its own and external marketplaces, partner and white-label shops, and create-your-own.

Smoter will also be in charge of growing Spreadshirt‘s commercial success and market share.

“Spreadshirt is growing and taking a market-lead in the three models of allowing people to create, sell and buy ideas using print-on-demand marketplaces, ecommerce shop systems and create-your-own tools,” Spreadshirt chief executive Philip Rooke said.

“In the next few months we will be accelerating the business with exciting product releases, and more globalisation of our services.

“With his previous experience leading the agile marketing team and the direct-to-consumer business unit, Hugo will add to our commercial strengths and be of great benefit for us in the organisation as we continue to grow.”

Born in Poland, the Smoter has over 14 years of experience in online and direct marketing, and he first joined Spreadshirt in 2008.

The retailer is also on the hunt for candidates for the new Director of Personalisation Services and Director of Marketplaces positions based Spreadshirt‘s European headquarters in Leipzig, Germany.
