The billionaire family behind Primark have retained their dominance as one of the richest names in UK retail after landing in the top 10 of the Sunday Times Rich List.

Guy, George, Alannah and Galen Weston have a combined wealth of £14.5bn and have come in at the seventh spot.

This means Primark owners have edged up one spot as the Westons were the eighth richest in the country last year, with a wealth of £13.5bn.

Meanwhile, Gymshark founder Lewis Morgan was named number 11 on the 35 under 35 Rich List, with a net worth valued at £160m.

The fortune of Sports Direct founder Mike Ashley also saw his coffers grow over the year by 28% to more than £3.8bn with profits at his Frasers Group — which owns brands like Jack Wills and Evans Cycles — jumping by 50% in the second half of last year.

Reece Wabara, the founder of fashion retailer Manière De Voir was ranked 19th on the list, reporting a net worth of £83m

The UK currently has 171 billionaires, down six from last year, the first fall for 14 years according to the latest rich list.

The combined wealth of the UK billionaires is £684bn, up £31bn on the total wealth of the billionaires in last year’s Rich List.

The Sunday Times Rich List compiler Robert Watts said: “Despite the tougher business environment, we have many impressive entrepreneurial stories in this year’s Sunday Times Rich List.”
