Looters hit shops across the UK amid widespread riots over the weekend, taking advantage of the chaos to ransack stores including Sainsbury’s, Shoezone and Greggs.

The unrest, which saw buildings set ablaze, also led to significant damage to retail stores alongside a library which was set alight by hooligans.

In Manchester, a Sainsbury’s Local was forced to shut after it was “stormed” by rioters, with eyewitnesses saying they saw the mob “grabbing items and throwing them” from the city centre store.

In Hull, a Shoezone was pictured with smashed windows and a fire inside, while a Greggs and a Specsavers were also targeted by men with face coverings throwing stones.

Meanwhile in Liverpool, groups yelled “Get the phones! Get the phones!” as they targeted a phone repair and vape shop in the city centre.

With further demonstrations planned today in Rotherham, Rushmoor, Weymouth, Middlesbrough, and Lancaster, retailers and authorities are preparing for more possible riots, Daily Mail reported.

The violence erupted after misinformation and tensions escalated on Britain’s streets, following a mass stabbing in Southport, leading to widespread disorder in towns and cities across the country.
