Card Factory has said former Greggs chief executive Roger Whiteside will now become the senior independent non-executive director.

Whiteside will replace Octavia Morley when she exits the board at the end of January 2023.

He has been on the board since December 2017.

Morley has been on the board as a senior independent non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee since 2014.

The retailer said it was not looking to recruit another non-executive director as it felt the “balance of skills and experience” on its board was appropriate for current requirements.

Card Factory chair Paul Moody said: “Octavia has always provided clear counsel and commercial insight to the board and as chair of the remuneration committee has helped navigate us through the increasingly tricky landscape of executive remuneration.

“I have enjoyed working with Octavia and very much appreciated her pragmatism, courage and direct engagement on, sometimes, challenging issues. We wish Octavia continued success with her non-executive portfolio.”

Whiteside resigned from his role as chief executive at bakery chain Greggs in May, after nine years at the helm.
