It will offer an ever-changing rota of well-known brands, across a wide range of industries who will be able to book the space and showcase their offer to 1.3m people who pass the busy shopping strip.

Future Stores will feature state of the art LED’s covering the walls and ceilings, alongside innovative data capture methods, which will provide unique customer insights to anyone hiring the space.

“As we move towards the opening in autumn, not only are we delighted to create 40 new jobs, but also look forward to changing the face of retail, through a concept that asks why the high street can’t be as dynamic as your Instagram feed – ever changing, ever engaging and that is exactly what we plan to deliver with this world first.”

It comes as London Mayor Sadiq Khan revealed last week that Oxford Street is set to become traffic-free under new plans.

The move aims to transform the iconic retail street and return it to its former glory as a world-leading shopping destination.

The pedestrianisation of the mile-long street has been in discussion for a long time and the subject of much objection from Westminster Council. Businesses and residents had previously voiced concerns over the impact of re-routing buses on Oxford Street under earlier suggested schemes.
