Gymshark has appointed Shaun Perkinson as its new chief technology officer as the fitnesswear brand looks to support its next phase of growth.

Perkinson joins the retailer from Saudi Arabia’s Al Waha Travel Retailer, where he served as chief technology officer from September 2025 to July 2026.

He previously spent five years as chief technology officer at Boden between 2019 and 2024, and has also held senior technology roles at Tory Burch and Burberry.

Perkinson succeeds John Douglas, who is retiring after five years with the business.

Gymshark founder and chief executive Ben Francis said Perkinson brought “more than 20 years of experience building products and leading technology teams” to the role.

“What really stood out to me was his combination of technical expertise, commercial instinct and collaborative approach,” Francis said on LinkedIn.

“Technology will continue to play a pivotal role in helping us create better experiences for our community and supporting the next stage of our growth. Shaun joins us at an exciting time, and I’m confident we’ll do great things together.”

Francis also paid tribute to outgoing CTO Douglas, who joined Gymshark in 2021.

“I can honestly say Gymshark wouldn’t be where it is today without him,” he said.

“When John joined Gymshark, we were entering a pivotal stage in our journey. Over the last five years, he’s led our technology function through some of the biggest moments in our growth. He’s helped us scale, navigate complex challenges and set us up for the future.”

The appointment comes as Gymshark continues to expand its physical retail footprint alongside its direct-to-consumer business.

The retailer reported its 13th consecutive year of sales growth for the year to 31 July 2025, with revenue reaching £646m, although profits were hit by continued investment in the business.

Gymshark has been building out its store estate in recent years, including its Regent Street flagship, as it looks to deepen its connection with its fitness community and grow brand awareness beyond digital channels.
