Asos names former Next boss Jon Bennett as menswear product director

Asos has appointed former Next managing director Jon Bennett as menswear product director for Asos Design.

Bennett will lead the strategy and performance of Asos Design Menswear, with responsibility for improving its product offer, fashion authority and commercial performance.

He will work across Asos’ product, brand and creative teams to further define the identity of the menswear label and support its next phase of sustainable growth.

Bennett joins Asos from Next’s wholly owned brands division, where he served as managing director. He has also held senior trading, buying, sourcing and design roles at fashion retailers including Primark and Topshop/Topman.

Asos executive vice president of product Elena Martinez Ortiz said the appointment strengthened the retailer’s product leadership team and reflected the importance of Asos Design Menswear to its wider strategy.

She said Bennett brought “deep menswear expertise” alongside experience building high-performing product teams at scale, which would support Asos as it continues to sharpen its own-brand offer.

Bennett said: “Asos Design Menswear has strong foundations,” adding that the opportunity was to develop product that felt relevant, directional and distinct to the retailer.

Asos currently has 17 million active customers across more than 150 markets.
