Wilko has announced the appointment of Andrew Moore as its new chief commercial officer in the latest of a string of senior appointments made this year.
Moore joins from Asda where he spent more than a decade, acting as its chief merchandising officer since 2012.
He is credited with developing Asda’s fashion brand George into a global presence, and leading the retailers wider general merchandising team.
Prior to his role at Asda, Moore held senior positions at Marks & Spencer and Woolworths in South Africa.
Earlier this year Wilko, which reported a pre-tax operating loss of £65 million in the 12 months to February 3, poached Specsavers’ Craig McGregor to take on role of retail director.
The news came shortly after Asda’s former financial chief Alex Russo joined Wilko as its new chief financial officer and executive board director.
